Saturday morning Vatican II sessions:  Reading for Vatican II Session - Saturday 1st March (10.30 in St Catherine’s)
You may wish to look at each of the following three Decrees by way of background reading:
-         The Decree on the Bishops’ Pastoral Office in the Church (pages 105-121)
-         The Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests (pages 125-142)
-         The Decree on Priestly Formation (pages 145-155)
We are asking each group to focus on a particular Decree, as detailed below:

 Group 1:
By way of background reading look at Book 2 - ‘The Constitutions’, Chapter 3, The Hierarchical Structure of the Church, in particular the bishops (pages 39-45)
Then focus on - The Decree on the Bishops’ Pastoral Office in the Church - Pages 105-121 - Focus particularly on chapter 2 (110-119).

Group 2       
By way of background reading, look at Book 2, ‘The Constitutions’, Chapter 3, The Hierarchical Structure of the Church, in particular the bishops (pages 39-45)
Then focus on - The Decree on the Bishops’ Pastoral Office in the Church - Pages 105-121.

Group 4         
Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests - Pages 125-142 - Focus particularly on Chapter 3 (pages 136-141)

Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests - Pages 125-142 - Focus particularly on Chapter 3 and the Conclusion (pages 136-142)
Group 6         
The Decree on Priestly Formation - Pages 145-155 - Focus particularly on Chapter 4 (150-152)
Group 7         
The Decree on Priestly Formation - Pages 145-155 - Focus particularly on Chapters 5 and 6 (pages 152-154)

Sacrament of Confirmation, St Gregory’s and St John Vianney’s Parishes: The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in St Gregory’s on Saturday 14th and in St. John Vianney’s on Sunday 15th June.

Prayer and reflection evenings with Srs Christine and Jeannette: The dates have now been set until June - so that you can put them into your diary! All Monday evenings - starting at 7.30pm at Harmony Crescent.  17th March, 28th April, 19th May and 23rd June. If you need a lift please contact Maureen Wallbanks.

Café Gospel Series: ‘The Gospel according to the Simpsons’ with Fr Peter Scally SJ. Tue 25th February 7-9pm @ Café Camino. Faith-sharing experience for young people in a relaxed environment.

PrayerNET: A network of people in the Diocese who are leading others in experiences of prayer in their parishes. There are three meetings scheduled, the first of which takes place at the Gillis Centre on 27th February at 7pm. Further information is available from Patricia Carroll at the Gillis centre. SEECAT Lent Groups: Could you help by LEADING or HOSTING a group? The groups will meet once a week for five weeks before Easter, starting the week beginning the 10th March. This year we are planning to use a series of Scripture-based group reflection materials published by ACTS (Action of Churches Together in Scotland): “Values for Scotland?” on the themes of Justice, Wisdom, Compassion and Integrity – values inscribed on the Scottish Mace. Justice and Peace Lent retreat: “One body in Christ – Many the gifts”. Saturday 15th March, 2014, Time: 11.30-6pm, ending with a Vigil Mass. A contextual bible study led by Br Stephen Smyth, General Secretary of ACTS. The day will be held at St Catharine’s Convent, Lauriston, Edinburgh. Tea & coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Cost £15 (£10 unwaged).
